The sobering time leading up to World War Two, was also the slow demise of the excitement of the Art Deco era. It was an amazing time of Automobile development, and even standardisation, but it was also the time of great races, and increasing awareness of the growth in National pride, that probably helped launch the second great conflict of a generation.

The War created a new and pragmatic mindset for the industry which lingered for several years after it ended, and then started to flourish again, but directed more to the 'main in the street'. No longer just an aspiration, now possession of a car became a reality.
